Master's Programme in Social Sciences

Programme structure

Master’s degree:

In order to entitle to a Master of Arts/Science the following requirements have to be fulfilled: 120 credits with 90 credits at second cycle.  In addition to this, a main field of study of 60 credits, including a degree project of 30 credits minimum is required.


Core course = a course on the main field of study, i.e. the programme specialisation.

Skill course = common methodology courses. Taken together with other programme students from differing discipline backgrounds. In some cases, these are mandatory and may vary depending on the specialisation.

Elective course = free to choose a course at first or second level cycle, optional if this is within the programme or not. Note that elective courses should be at part-time as the programme structure is built on parallel studies.
